Eternal Life:
May I share something with you that could bless and change your life dramatically?
Friends to Family
Perhaps this will be very liberating for many. [Galatians: 5:1, 4-5, 18] A major part of our life purpose here is to form into families. This does not necessarily mean, just having children and building a family in this manner. It is a good thing to do but, there is more. Families can be formed through the union of friends who decide they want to be in the same family. [Matthew 16:19, 18:18] [See Friends to Family, below]

Some Principles of Eternal Life
Accountability: This word is so powerful, that it deserves to be at the head of the list. Since we do better in any area of life in which we are held to some form of accountability, it is no wonder that this principle is such a powerful tool in the developing and perfecting of self. One of the great and important challenges in this life is to overcome self. We learn to subject ourselves to our more refined spirit selves. Or, we conform to the things we know to be right and control our appetites and passions.
We exercise self-control and we become the masters of our own destiny in a sense. We do this through choice and discipline and aligning ourselves with Christ and His Gospel. A vital ingredient is accountability and the frequent assessing of our lives and making adjustments to improve our alignment. This does not mean that we are not dependent upon God for our salvation; it simply makes sense to prepare ourselves to the best of our abilities to maximize the opportunities which lay ahead in the Lord.
Adoption: (The Law of): This is a principle which helps to connect us to friends and family for the next life. It is a form of sealing as discussed above but, it has to do with being sealed to your father as a son to him. Girls on the other hand will be sealed to their husband. The husband will be sealed to his father. By the way, this does not have to be his biological father. He should be connected to the father whom God reveals to him.
Ask for Eternal Life: The Lectures on Faith, formerly part of the Doctrine & Covenants, suggests that you need to develop the faith to ask for Eternal Life. Give this some thought and make the best use of any inspiration you receive on the subject.
Avoid Sin: Obviously, since the principle of Repentance is important to cleansing and preparing us to move forward to gain forgiveness of our sins, it is important to stay away from sinning, since ultimately we have to repent of these sins. It is kind of like messing up our homes and then having to clean them up again. If the home stays clean then we can use the cleaning energy to do some other things instead of cleaning house. Not only that; but, deliberately sinning with the thought that we can always repent may well backfire since God will eventually lose patience with us.
Baptism: Baptism is performed by different groups in different manners. If you believe in this way or that, it is wise to do the best you can to make sure you are correct and then receive baptism in the way you feel is right. It is my belief that baptism is by full immersion in water to represent the burial of our Savior and the rising or coming forth again as we come out of the water; after all, that was how Jesus was baptized to set the example for us.
Beatitudes: And He, opened His mouth and taught them, saying,
-Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the
kingdom of heaven.
-Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
-Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
-Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after
righteousness: for they shall be filled.
-Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
-Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
-Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the
children of God.
-Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness
sake: for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
-Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute
you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for
My sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
-Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Being all that I should be: Each of us has been endowed with certain talents and abilities. Many times we may find others with some talents being similar to our own; but, our unique combination of abilities and talents will always be different to some extent, from that of everyone else. It is pretty cool that we are individuals and there are no two people exactly alike.
In the process of discovery, we may come to know ourselves better and learn to develop these gifts which we can then use to achieve our missions and ultimately our purposes here on this blue - green globe. Most often, this will involve being of service to our fellow man and in bringing souls unto Christ. Being all that we 'could be' is different in that we could be things which are not right. 'Should be' is what God would have us be. Do not misuse what God has blessed you with.
Bless other's lives: This is good, since we are creating the community to which we will belong in the next life. The more friends that we help, the more friends we will have when we get there. On top of this, as we do God's work, of gathering His children here, we increase the likelihood of our being with God in the future.
Bringing souls unto Christ: Jesus and the Father are on the same team and bringing souls unto one is bringing souls unto the other. Jesus bought us in a sense through the Atonement and we rely on Him to bring us back into the presence of God, our Father In Heaven. Part of our work is to assist God with His work and that involves saving as many souls as possible.
We play a part in all of this by sharing and teaching and leading souls unto our Savior and His Gospel. There is no finer work in which we can be involved. These souls may include ourselves, our families, our friends and anyone else whom we can influence.
Called of God: Jeremiah 3:14 O backsliding children, saith the Lord; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:
Ezekiel 11:19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:
Isaiah 4:1 And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying we will eat our own bread and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.
Matthew 18:16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
Note: (When God calls you and you reject the call, your progress will stop and you will not be able to complain later, as there will be sufficient witnesses against you to testify that you have been warned)
Piliippians 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
1 Corinthians 7:24 Let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.
Calling and Election made sure: This has been taught as something to be sought after and which guarantees us of Eternal Life. There are various levels on which this Calling and Election can be given or promised to us according to the various teachings which differ from each other.
It is important to seek to obtain Eternal Life as early in life as possible and knowing you have or will make it would be wonderfully encouraging. It is rare; but, possible to receive such promises in this life.
Charity: This has been defined as the pure love of Christ. It is to love others and to do good unto them. We may let the love of Christ shine through us to bless lives. We may do some of the work; but, should give God the credit.
Come to Know God & Jesus: To have Eternal life is to come to know Jesus and His Father. We begin on this path as we learn of them and of their Gospel and commandments. Being obedient to what they say and have said in the scriptures is important to us knowing more about them. Conforming our lives to the patterns they teach and have taught and striving to become more like them, brings us closer and closer to them and to coming into their presence.
Come unto Christ: Our Savior has given us an invitation to learn of Him and His Gospel and to follow Him and live according to His teachings. As we conform our lives and align ourselves with Him, we are indeed coming to Christ. As a matter of fact, we are thus becoming more like Him.
Contribute to mankind: Here is a thought for you. If you do nothing else, at least consider putting something back in life. Each of us has been blessed and we need to put something back in life too. It is not about what we can get; but, rather what we give that counts.
In the end, it will be our contribution in various areas of life that will be remembered and we cannot take anything of a material nature with us, so give while you can. Taking it a step further, it will bless your friends and family if you put in the effort and gain Eternal Life. Going further and helping them to gain Eternal Life as well, will mean even more in the end.
Contrite spirit (ours): Humility is an important part of learning. If our spirits are contrite, or in other words, if we are contrite or humble, before God, we open ourselves up for learning and growth. As we become as little children in a sense, as Jesus has suggested, then our minds and hearts are prepared so we can be taught.
When we think we have all the answers or that our religion of choice has all the answers, then we block further truth and knowledge from coming into our lives. Without the contriteness of heart, we are no longer teachable and we grow stagnant and cease to progress.
Covenants: Some of the experiences we have come as a result of entering into ordinances and covenants to serve God. We keep such commitments and that qualifies us for more. Our word can be powerful, just as God's word is powerful. Of course, this will take us a great deal of time to grow to that point and will begin here and extend into the eternities.
In fact, Jesus has been referred to as the Word. Covenants help us to learn to keep our word to God. By making covenants, we set higher goals and as we live up to higher goals, we improve our lives. Ordinances are steps we take and they also involve new levels of commitments and goals for living higher lives. It all works together to bless our own existences or lives. Baptism is an example of an ordinance.
Debts: Debts are one huge way that the adversary keeps us bound. We ought to be more free and not get entangled with debt and banks and so forth. Debt ties us down and enslaves us. So much of our valuable time is spend in trying to earn a living so that we can be free.
The truth is that we are already made free in Christ if we but know it and live for it. (Galatians 5:1) We ought not spend our time and talents and resources in building up mammon (the worldly things); but, we ought to be blessing lives and thus be building the Kingdom of God. This we do in the corner of the vineyard to which we are called or 'bloom where we are planted', as someone once said. Speaking of debts, consider the debt we owe to Jesus for the Atonement. He bought us with His blood and we owe everything to Him.
Faith: "Faith is a belief in that which is true and yet, not seen. Or, in other words, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." [Hebrews 11:1]
"Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." [Hebrews 11:3]
"Without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him." [Hebrews 11:6]
In various places in the Bible, it talks about faith being important to salvation. Jesus healed many by the means of faith and said that if we have the faith of a mustard seed (in size), we could move mountains, dry up a fig tree and so forth. Moses, stopped the Red Sea and Joshua held the earth in position, in effect giving the appearance of the sun standing still.
Lepers were healed, the blind received their sight, Jesus read people's thoughts, walked on water, calmed the storm, fed thousands with just a few fishes and a couple of loaves of bread and so much more. On top of all of this, He was able to endure great temptations from the devil and He overcame the trials of great magnitude in the Garden of Gethsemane which are beyond our understanding; but, which in some way, took upon Himself our sins and then He endured the crucifixion while knowing that He could have put a stop to it at any time.
Some examples of faith in action: [Holy Bible, King James version]
By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice [Heb. 11:4]
Enoch was translated [Heb. 11:5]
Noah prepared an ark and saved his family [Heb. 11:7]
Abraham obtained a land and posterity of promise [Heb. 118-10]
Sarah was able to have a child though she was past her time. [Heb. 11:11]
Moses dried up the Red Sea [Heb 11:29]
The walls of Jericho were brought down [Heb. 11:30]
Rahab perished not [Heb. 11:31]
Naaman was healed [2 Kings 5:1-4]
Forgive others: Can you see by now that unless we forgive, we have the greater sin? We must forgive all others as God has said and this is important for lots of reasons. One is that we forgive and can then be forgiven and all of us sin and come short of the glory and kingdom of God. Also, as we hold onto hard feelings they canker our own souls and bring such things as stress, disease and unhappiness into our own lives. It is not worth it to cling to such resentments and hatred. Let go and let God, as someone wisely advised.
Friends to Family: Perhaps this will be very liberating for many. [Galatians: 5:1, 4-5, 18] [ see Unity, below] A major part of our life purpose here is to form into families. This does not necessarily mean, just having children and building a family in this manner. It is a good thing to do but, there is more. Families can be formed through the union of friends who decide they want to be in the same family. [See Friends to Family, below]
Typically we see this happen in marriages. Traditional marriage between a man and a woman is a way of creating a family. Having children within the marriage, adds to that family. I shall include another factor here as well. Besides, traditional marriages, there is also something called a sealing. This is where friends enter into a covenant between themselves and God; which can extend into the eternities. [Matthew 16:19, 18:18]
These covenants, are agreements which God may honor if men and women enter into them according to His will and as long as they live up to their part of the deal. You must already know that faithfulness and treating each other with love and respect is absolutely necessary. There is also authority that binds these relationships together forever; but, be careful for some religions falsely claim to have this authority.
There are some who have been given this sealing power and it is done without cost and without attempting to create a following. This may help you to know if you are onto the right source. Prayer and revelation will help you to find the right source. In the mean time, do what the Spirit of God directs and do so with a pure heart and clean hands.
Families can be formed anytime we find people who are free from other commitments and who desire to be connected forever together. It is not my intention to promote monogamy nor plurality of wives here; but, these things are left up to the individuals and are between them and God. No man has the right to stop anyone from entering into any such marriages performed in the manner which God sees fit. [1 Timothy 4:1-3, John 2:1-2]
If you feel moved to be sealed to someone; then, you can be sealed, either for this life or for the next, or for both. It is not right for a woman to be sealed to more than one man at the same time in this life, although a woman could be sealed to one man for this life and to a different man for the next life if she so chooses. This could come into play where a former husband had passed away and she desired to be with someone else for the balance of her mortal life. Outside of this, a woman who is sealed, must have the sealing cancelled before she enters into another one.
Otherwise, it would amount to adultery if a woman was to enter into any form of intimacy with one man and yet be sealed to another living man at the same time. Again, a woman may be released from a sealing at any time she so desires, whether the man is living still or not, for this is a God given right to her. This should be done by proper authority. [Matthew 16:19] (Any fee charged for this service would constitute priestcraft! And, anyone not permitting the cancellation or encouraging some form of marriage while she is still sealed to another man will greatly offend God)
It appears that more than one woman could be sealed to the same man without limitation; but, this is something as with all marriages and sealings that is controlled by God. So, the sealing will not be effective if not done in accordance with the will of God. You need to exercise the principles of prayer explained in this work on Eternal Life.
Families can be created in this fashion; although living together in some states, like Utah has been made against their laws. They call it, cohabitation. Well, a sealing is personal and sacred and no one can see any evidence of it. Living together is something you have to figure out for yourselves. If you feel it is wrong, then do not do it. It is between you and God. When religious leaders try to come between you and God, it is because they have their own agendas to promote of course.
If a good friend wants to be in their family, they have the right to ask them about joining in. If someone wishes to share in business, family, and other life activities, that is their business. Providing the lady is not under some other commitment, then it is no problem to ask. As far as saying that they will live plural marriage and break the Utah laws; well, they should remove the words 'plural marriage' from their vocabulary. [Genesis: 2:18] As far as the man entering into such a relationship, this must be the will of God as revealed to both parties.
Is a special place required for such sealings? No. It is the authority which counts and if you can find a good place, then fine. Just do not be caught up in believing that you must bow to others and pay them money and so forth in order to have the things that God wants you to have.
If you decide to separate yourself from an organized religion, do not make the mistake of thinking that they represent God and so you are leaving God behind. Leave this church or that one or attend which ever one you like; but, do not leave God. Continue to pray and to listen and to study the Bible to get His Spirit in your life. This is the best advice I can give you. Conform your will to that of God; repent where necessary; align yourself with Him and His Gospel; and you shall gain Eternal Life.
[Matthew 16:19, 18:18]
Fullness of the Gospel: This is another interesting aspect of the Gospel. We may each feel as we begin to grow in the Gospel that we want it all. We want more or even, a fullness of the Gospel. What exactly does that mean? Well, it means that we want all that we can have that pertains to our own salvation and that of our friends and family. It is everything we need to have and to live by to have Eternal Life. This includes all of the principles and ordinances which God has prescribed to true salvation and anything less is not a fullness.
We cannot change these things and they are not for man's private interpretation. They are what they are. If they were true yesterday, they are true today and will be forever. It is a sad thing that most organized religions come up with what they believe to be the path to Eternal Life and then they change their doctrines to please the members. Get your answers from God Himself and then live up to these things with full purpose of heart.
Good works: Firstly, let me address the idea that good works cannot save you, as some are quick to teach. In certain respects, this is true. We do good works and we receive blessings. We are more than paid in this life for all the good that we do. God gave us life and Jesus gave us the Atonement. We can never repay Them fully and so how can we ever say that our works qualify us for Eternal Life?
On the other hand, consider for a moment that God is our Father and as parents, how would we treat our children? We love them and want them to be with us. If we find that their behavior is not conducive to happiness, we will ultimately not be able to have them with us. Of course, they could repent and change.
If they do good works, we will be happy with them and naturally desire to have them with us. Certain behaviors will definitely help us to see that they make good neighbors and would be peaceable and good contributors in God's Kingdom. So, do all the good that you can do and accept God's will in placing you where you belong and will be most well suited and happiest.
In simple terms, we must align ourselves with God and become like Him and His Son, Jesus. We won't be perfect in this life; but, we do the best we can and that is a form of perfection on our own levels. As for me and my house, I desire Eternal Life. How about you and yours?
Hope: How can we have Eternal Life without hope? Well, it is impossible. So, we may think that we are in deep trouble for we seem to have no hope. We gain hope as we align ourselves with God and His ways. The Spirit of God will bring hope to our minds as we do those things which are right and good. Sometimes we do right and yet, we seem to have no hope.
As part of becoming more loving in the process of becoming more like God, we need to love others, yes; but, we also need to love ourselves. As we forgive others, we need to also forgive ourselves. We repent and we have to let go. If God can forgive us, then we must also forgive ourselves and trust that by doing what is right, we shall also see God and come to have Eternal Life. Whatever is blocking your hope, identify it and remove it. If it is guilt, deal with it. If it is sin, remove it. Do what it takes to restore your hope and it will be there and you will be on track and on course to see God again, for a happy reunion.
A huge thing you can to gain hope is to help others to gain hope. As you bless their lives, it circles around and blesses your life with hope too.
Kingdom of God or Nothing!: God's Kingdom is on the earth. It has not covered the earth and is not very widely accepted. True, there are hundreds of millions who claim to be Christians and of them, there are some who truly are - I would suppose. It is a challenge to be true in every respect. It is not necessarily easy to know someone is a Christian until we get to know them and their works to some extent. Of course we can get a good feeling right away when we meet them.
The Kingdom is setup to disperse the True Gospel and to bring souls into alignment with the will of God. We see such influences in organized religion, although we do have to selectively take the truth and leave the man-made error behind. Come unto the Father through the Son. Learn of Jesus, using what we have in the scriptures and through prayer and meditation, as well as reading the inspired writings of others. Use the Spirit of God to gauge the truth of all things and hold fast to that which you find to be good.
Promote the Kingdom through your good works and good example and lead others to find Jesus and our Father in Heaven. Teach them to use prayer and study and to conform their lives to the truth. As we become a part of the Kingdom of God, by doing our part, we connect ourselves to something that we can be a part of throughout the eternities, and this includes having our friends and families with us as well. Eternal Life is Eternal Happiness and happiness includes being with the ones we love.
Know that Jesus is the Christ: In gaining Knowledge, we may come to know that Jesus is our Lord and Savior, even the Christ. He is more than just a man and has paid the price for our salvation if we will but accept Him and keep His commandments. This we can know as we learn and apply His teachings in our lives. He loved us enough to give His life for us. Our Heavenly Father loved us enough to allow His Son to be slain for our sins. We owe our complete selves, heart and soul to them and this is only possible as we come to know them.
Knowledge: Can you be saved in ignorance? It does seem that the Gospel was given to us for a purpose and that since we indeed can gaze into the heavens for five minutes and learn a tremendous amount as we do so with the Spirit of God; we must take seriously, the fact that we have this accessible knowledge for a purpose. The purpose for this knowledge is that it brings us closer to God; and after all, to have Eternal Life is to come to know God and to be able to dwell with Him and His Beloved Son, Jesus and to interact with Them.
Marriage: The scriptures say that marriages are right in the sight of God. I am all for them. These commitments are pleasing to our Heavenly Father and we should not enter into them lightly. Unfortunately, the government has gotten involved and for money, we can have a government form of marriage.
It is obvious to me that they have no particular authority with God to perform such. It seems to me that we must make commitments with each other and with God in these matters and then keep the commitments.
Making wise choices in our mates is greatly important, since these relationships should be forever. Is there authority which can seal partners together forever? There is. Where will you find it? Not in organized religions today for they have changed the ordinances and broken the everlasting covenants with God as Isaiah stated. (see ordinances - below) To find the correct authority requires making it a matter of prayerful research and listening to or communing with, the Spirit of God. Prepare yourself and the door will open.
Mission(s): (see Purpose) Yes, we have a purpose for being here and some call this a mission. It is my belief that we have various missions as part of our achieving our purposes here on this earth. An example of a mission may be a man or woman's career or having and rearing children or participating in a marriage and so forth. Many religions send people out on 'missions'.
As positive as these usually are, it is important to know the will of God, so we do not waste our lives doing the wrong missions. After all, there is only so much time and we want to complete the exact ones which our Father In Heaven has designed for us. I know that there are many who would tell you what God wants you to do and that this is right etc. Remember that you are to be in charge of your own life and you can and must get your answers directly from the True Source. These missions are major parts of our lives and we are to live through them in an honorable manner. Always do the best you can do.
Learning what our mission or missions on this earth are, takes time and we must do a lot of soul searching to discover them. Usually, when we are ready, we find one and perhaps later in life when we are again ready for the next step, we find ourselves in another one.
Ordinances: (see Covenants, above) Baptism and other ordinances have been established by God and they are to be performed in certain ways. they cannot be altered or changed. this is one way we tell a true religion from a false one. The false ones change God's ordinances and Everlasting Covenants. (Isaiah24:5)
Of course they will never admit this but, you can do a little research for yourself and then wake up and get yourself away from such deceivers before it is too late for you and your family. Liars cannot bring you salvation.
Overcome Life’s Challenges: Oh, the pain of it all! We have so much adversity and challenge in our lives that we cannot seem to make any headway at times. And then, we stop and realize that these obstacles and oppositions actually help us to grow and to become who we should become. Yes, this life and the experiences we have here are designed to bring us up to the level we should be. Personal Growth is a huge part of life, so take on the attitude that we shall grow thorough these experiences and become all that we should become.
Overcoming of Self and the Flesh: (see Accountability, above)
Prayer Would you like to discover what God would have you do? Would you like access to the truth and to direction as to the best course to take in your life? I bet you would like this and so I like this as well. Prayer is the answer. We get to communicate with the One who knows all of the answers. He knows what is best for us at all times and He is on our side too. You can't beat that!
Here is how to make it work for you. The first thing is to learn that you cannot rush your prayers. Try a version of this and practice and practice and in time you will not only receive amazing answers; but, you will know they are of God.
Set the stage at night as you pray to God and ask Him for revelation and to show you the answers you need in your life. Be very specific and tell Him of your particular need(s) at the time. You will then go to sleep.
In the morning or when you wake up, in the middle of the night or whatever, allow the thoughts to flow in your mind and while in this state of mind, begin to pray and to listen and meditate and let the thoughts and ideas flow into your mind. It is best to sit up for this process, for lying down, you may become to inattentive and fall asleep and kneeling you may not have the endurance.
You will find that ideas come into your mind just as if someone planted the words there. You can respond by asking questions for greater clarification and will normally receive more answers. I find it is like feeling the answers come into my mind.
When you arise after the prayer, write down the answers and impressions you received. If you do not do this, they will quickly leave you mind in most cases. I like to do this on the computer or in a notebook. I put the date and time down as well. I pray with my eyes closed and in the dark usually, for then I am less distracted. It is not uncommon for an hour to quickly pass in this process. It is amazingly worth. it.
Over time, we will get a feel for what has come to pass and what may not have with regard to our inspirations. Thus, you can refine your perception of the different feelings you may have so that you come to recognize God's Spirit working in your mind. Practice makes perfect. Use the inspiration / revelations you receive to run your own life and trust that God will hear and answer your prayers as you conform you life to His will.
It is important to let the answers flow and to NOT have preconceived answers in your mind. Let God reveal His will or you will simply get the messages you want from your own subconscious mind and will end up being deceived.
Priesthood: This is the authority given to man to represent God in some ways; whether here on the earth or in the heavens. Many claim to have this authority. It is interesting but, this authority is to be used without money nor price. It is to be used to do God's work and to bless lives. So often in this world, we see those who claim to have this authority, exercise unrighteous dominion over others and this shows clearly that they have no priesthood: but, are merely practicing priestcraft by exacting a price for their services. This may not even be evident to their followers who may naively believe that their leaders represent God and that they are not being paid for their services.
Pure heart: The pure heart is the one which is true. We have the best on intentions and are honest with ourselves, our God and mankind. We do things for the right reason and can be trusted with the good things which God gives to us. Little wonder that it is the pure in heart, according to Jesus, who will see God.
Purpose (Achieve your Purpose): What does purpose mean? It is the foundational reason for you being here. Each of us have a personal Purpose and this can be pretty much the same as someone else’s or quite different. It is there for you to Discover and to live. I can help there. So, what is a Mission then? Well, it may be that your Mission can be looked at as the same as Purpose; but, I think of it as the next level up. First you find your Purpose and then you may have a specific mission or missions to perform on the way to achieving your purpose. These separate you from others in that they also make you unique.
Consider this idea for a time and see how it sits with you. We came here to this earth and acquired a mortal body. We are to grow and fulfill the full measure for which we came to this earth, or in other words, to become all that we should become. We grow through our experiences and this helps us to have true success.
None of us knows how long we will be here, so, Live on Purpose!
Relationships: Create relationships that bridge between this life and the next. (See Friends to Family, above)
Repent: Since sin is that which takes you away from God and His laws and commandments, it is natural that we want to remove sin from our lives so that we come back to God. Ultimately, we want to return to live with Him and His Dear Son, our Savior, Jesus. We also want to live with our friends and families. We show how important this is to us as we prepare for this experience by organizing our families here, on the earth.
Repentance is the process of removing sin from our lives. We do this by first contemplating our actions, (see Accountability, above), and then repairing whatever damage we have caused and restoring those we may have wronged, to the best of our abilities.
We must do what we can to conform our lives to right principles and not doing again the sin which we have committed. We then must clear things up with God by confessing to Him in humility, our sins and trespasses and wicked ways and asking for His forgiveness.
We must ask what He would have us do and listen and feel what He communicates to us and then act upon it. We are human and we fail at times but, God has prepared a way back, a way to clean the slate if our hearts are right before Him.
Sacrifice of all things: Looking in the New Testament, we see that Jesus taught us to be prepared to give up all material things and even our very lives if need be in the Christian cause. We belong to God and as we remain faithful and give up lands, family, wealth, friends, our good name among men and so forth in the cause of standing for the right, we are coming closer to God and His kingdom. When we feel that our riches are an indication of our righteousness, we fool ourselves. The wealth may be a blessing from God; but, the trials and struggles are a part of God's processes for refining and purifying us as well.
Be careful and be humble and the Lord will lead you into all righteousness.
Sealings: (To Tie Families Together) See: (Friends to Family, [above]).
A major purpose in this life is to tie families together. A most interesting thing is that we can create families through a system of joining together in a covenant with God. We call this a sealing and in this way we can join friends and family into one united entity. This can extend into the eternities and will if we live faithfully unto God. What could be more important than that? Yes, families and friendships can be forever.
How exciting and good that you can create relationships that bridge between this life and the next.
Spirit of God: (Holy Spirit, Holy Ghost)
The Spirit of God reveals all truth to us just as fast as we are ready and worthy of receiving it. This principle is so important that I wanted to share a secret with you.
We should pray and listen to receive answers from God. He will answer us through His Spirit and in order to get the message, we must be in tune with His Spirit.
So, how do we do this? Well, in fact, in most cases, we need to pray or study scriptures or meditate and 'feel' the answer. In my experience, although we say to listen, the answers come to my mind as if someone were speaking to me but, I do not hear the words, I feel them. They come into my mind.
Of extreme importance is to know that this comes in the form of a confident feeling like we just know this is right and it is what we should believe or do. It may be followed my joy and a feeling of emotion and excitement but, that is not the form which the answer comes in.
In other words, we get emotional when we hear tender stories etc. and may feel that we are having a spiritual experience. We can be greatly manipulated in this regard, for we are having an emotional experience and must know the difference or we will be manipulated and sold on doing the will of others if we are not careful.
Practice listening and coming to know how it feels to get the answers from God and His Spirit so that you are not deceived. It takes practice and trial and error to be sure. We apply what we receive and come to know when it was of God and when it was not. What I am sharing here is one of the very most important things you will ever hear in this life. Please do not waste it.
The impressions of the Spirit on us can be so powerful, that we can never deny them. We may forget other experiences and things we have been told, but, we may always recall the powerful witnesses of the Holy Spirit. It is important to not deny these things once we receive them, for they are given to us to use and to live by.
Ten Commandments
Exodus 20:
1. And God spake all these words, saying,
One
2. I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3. Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.
Two
4. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
5. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me;
6. And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep My commandments.
Three
7. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Four
8. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10. But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11. For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Five
12. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Six

Nine
16. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Ten
17. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
Works of Abraham And what are the works of Abraham? If we are Abraham's seed, then we are to do the works of Abraham or the same type of works. Let us examine some of these.
1. Abraham married an Israelite. In fact, she was his half sister.
2. Abraham paid tithes one time to Melchizedek. Some say that he also received a priesthood or priesthood authority from Melchizedek and this gave him the right to represent God in certain ways just as Moses.
3. Abraham created a large family which included others from the surrounding area. He took charge in his family. They wondered in the wilderness. Again, this is similar to what Moses did.
4. Abraham gave the choice of lands to his nephew, Lot, rather than choosing the best for himself.
5. Abraham willingly prepared to sacrifice his son, Isaac when the Lord commanded him to do so.
6. Abraham received 3 other wives from his wife, Sarah, thus giving him four wives at one time.
7. Abraham gave the birthright to his Israelite some from his first wife even though he was not the firstborn son to Abraham.
8. Abraham received great promises from God for himself and his posterity. If we are a part of Israel, we are heirs to those promises and we should learn of them and live so as to make the best use of these opportunities in our lives.
Unity: A huge factor in success in this life is in uniting with others for therein do we find great opportunities to bless lives and to get to understand better that we truyl are neighbors, brothers and sisters to each other and all mankind. As we form into families it is good to know that we must not be too exclusive. Not all belong in our families of course; but, all can be friends and neighbors. Love all of God's children and live by the Golden Rule.
